My new favorite part of my whole house is Stetson’s nursery. Sometimes I find myself going in there just to sit and daydream about holding my little baby and who he is going to become one day. It took me a while to really get on board with the whole nesting thing, because for so long I was not feeling very motivated to clean or decorate or shop. But now being in my final few weeks before meeting him, I am in full blown nesting mode. My heart is running in a million directions and so is my brain.

I feel ready, but nervous.

One thing I do know for sure though, I just want him in my arms already. It hasn’t totally hit me until I stood back and looked at his painted green walls. The books on his shelves. And his clothes on hangers. We are really doing this thing. My husband and I are actually going to be parents. What a wild thing life is.

My Favorite Parts Of Stetson’s Nursery

My main goal for his nursery, since we do rent our home, was to keep it pretty minimal and neutral with touches of western accents. I have never really been the type of person to put cowhide on every single thing and have some obnoxious pattern on each item. My decorating style comes together as western as a whole, but not as individual pieces.

When it comes to decorating a little baby’s room this can be somewhat challenging considering everything is super patterned or cartoonish. Not a fan to say the least.

I wanted Stetson’s nursery to blend with the rest of my home. To look western, but modern and not totally baby-ish. Does that even make sense?

I feel like overall it came together super well, and my favorite items would have to be the rocking chair my parents made. His book shelves with all his western books on them. And his crib, mostly just because I cannot believe how tiny he is going to look in that huge crib!

Becoming a parent has been such a blessing. I would without a shadow of a doubt consider myself a mom already. But I know for guys it can feel a little different. And I am sure when Tyler see’s the nursery he doesn’t feel exactly the way I do, and that’s okay. My heart is totally aching for the moment he gets to hold his son for the first time though. I might be more excited to see him get to hold the baby more than myself. Okay that’s a BIG maybe!

If you are reading this, and going through a similar season, maybe you are staring at 4 blank walls, wondering where to start, just know, I get it. It’s a weird feeling. One that completely can overwhelm you and my biggest advice is to take it one step at a time.
