One of my favorite parts of hosting this podcast is getting to interview the most incredible people who are doing such amazing things with their lives. Anna Kobza is nothing short of that. Anna is a Nebraska native but currently lives in the Texas panhandle attending West Texas A&M to get her masters in feedlot nutrition. Aside from attending school and trying to grow her own herd, Anna is a social media rockstar. Her content ranges from western fashion to informative posts about the truths of the fed cattle industry. This chick is on fire and I cannot wait for you to learn more about her story and her mission.

What Is Feedlot Nutrition

Feedlot nutrition is basically just the study of all things feedlot production in general. However, Anna specifically is targeting the nutrition aspect of the industry. She says that feedlot nutrition is feeding cattle in a way that is economically sustainable for the producer but also allows the cattle to perform to their best ability. And by performance, she means gaining weight, and producing quality meat. Her research specifically is looking at different types of ruffage in the diet and how it impacts the cattle as well.

Misconceptions About The Feedlot Industry

When considering any industry within agriculture it’s not surprising to hear a lot of misconceptions. The feedlot nutrition industry experiences this as well. There are myths about factory farms and mass producing and animal abuse. Also there are other groups of people spreading misinformation about the nutritional aspects to consuming beef. Saying things like like, beef is bad for your heart and causing obesity. Another huge misconception is that cattle are bad for the environment. Anna says she does her best to respond and not react to this misconceptions on her social media accounts.

How Does Your Social Media Play Into What You Are Majoring In?

Anna explains that when she first started her Instagram account it was intended to be geared towards consumer education. But it has expanded as her career has, and now has turned into more producer education. Her focus is to give producers more resources that can help them be successful.

She shares her daily life and her travels as she enters into different phases of life. Anna has really put a lot of effort into Instagram Reels and has seen a ton of growth because of it. One of her biggest goals is to actually start monetizing her Instagram.
