What’s up guys! It’s official! I have a Podcast and you are officially at the starting line of Episode number one! I’m Sarah Spackman for those who do not know me! But I am soon going to be changing my name to Sarah Elrod because your girl is getting married!!

It’s so wild to have my own show officially and to be chatting into a microphone all by my lonesome. I guess I will get really good at talking to myself!

In this first episode I am going to be telling you a little bit about me, my story, and the journey that got me to be here. I am not going to go super deep into a bunch of details as I will save those for future episodes. I just wanted y’all to get the general idea of who I am! I am also going to be touching on what you can expect from this Podcast and why I chose the name Branded Cowgirl.

WHO AM I?

I’m a western wedding photographer, a brand and marketing educator, a FiancĂ©, a sister, a daughter, a crazy horse lady, and a wanna be inspirational speaker.

I am currently 24 years old, and from a small town in Northern California but residing in Northern, Nevada.

I’m an animal lover big time. I have two horses, and a dog and am a big advocate for the agriculture industry.

I am engaged to a Montana Cowboy named Tyler whom I met over two years ago when he hired me to fly out there to come train his horses. We have a pretty wild story actually, but I will leave that for another episode.

He’s my biggest supporter, my best friend, and a man of the Lord. Without him, I literally would not have this Podcast right now.

MY CAREER

I started my very first business when I was just 17 years old. I was giving horseback riding lessons to kids and that grew and grew for several years which turned into my horse training career while also working on my wedding photography business.

My start with photography came by senior year when I would get hired by my friends to do their senior photos or photos for their family. The funny thing is, I never wanted to photograph weddings at that time. I thought they were just way too much pressure and stress. But after shooting my first wedding at 18 I was instantly hooked!

I went to college and got my Associates degree in Photography and then went to another college to get a degree in horse training (yes that is a real thing). While living at home I managed to make my full time income running to the beat of my own drum which was a really cool accomplishment for me at such a young age.

Aside from a few short term part time jobs here and there, I have never worked a traditional 9-5 job and now I have found a passion in teaching other entrepreneurs how to do the same thing.

ABOUT THIS PODCAST

I chose the name “Branded Cowgirl” for this Podcast because it is a little bit of a play on words. It has two meanings that are both dear to me.

The word “Branded” is a verb within the agriculture industry and ranching lifestyle. Ranchers brand their cattle and livestock to show that they own it and it’s essentially like their own unique mark that no one else can duplicate.

Similarly, branding in business also shows how you stand out from the rest. It represents who you are, tells your story, and it is something that no one else can perfectly copy. Your branding is the way you speak, the way you dress, the emotions you give off. It is so much more than just a logo or color palette.

The word “Cowgirl” is also something very special to me. A cowgirl is a strong, confident, independent woman, who has a big heart, a love for family, God, and all creations. Being a cowgirl means to live life to the beat of your own drum and have that fire inside of you that pushes you towards the next best thing. A cowgirl is so much more than just something you wear. It’s not about the hats or the boots. It’s about how you carry yourself, and how you treat others. It’s about expecting nothing, and working hard for everything.

Now I know that might have been a little deep, but I just really want to clarify who this podcast is for. If you are a business owner, a Cowgirl, someone in the western industry, or just someone who wants to make a difference in this world, then you have a seat at my table. Around here we don’t look for handouts, who look for opportunities and solutions. We chase big dreams and we believe that fear is just a silly lie.

My hope is that even if you do not relate to the western way of life, that you are still inspired to make the most of your days, and chase those dreams you have. We only get one life to live, and it’s way too short to waste working a 9-5 job you absolutely hate.

CONCLUSION

I hope that after listening to this episode you got to learn more about me, and the reasons why I do what I do. I am beyond stoked for what is to come.
